Skip the Boring Xmas Turkey and Try Something Different

December 16, 2022 By Karl Leave a Comment

Here’s a great start to truly great Christmas dinner

Many food traditions are joyful and comforting. But let’s face it: turkey sucks. It’s terrible for Thanksgiving, and it’s worse when foisted upon families for Christmas. Try something different and–get ready to clutch your pearls–serve something from a culture different from your own. Many people in the U.S. say they love Thai, Indian or Japanese food. Well, here’s your chance to ditch the turkey and serve your family and friends something that they’ll really enjoy, instead of them “loving” your dry, flavorless turkey while dry-heaving behind their napkins.

Super-easy and very flavorful rice.

How about trying some fantastic Indonesian food this year. You could make these chicken wings as an appetizer, this crazy-good beef rendang or this delicious coconut chicken as a main dish, this rice as a side, and this coconut brittle with ice cream for dessert. Your house will smell so good from all this great food cooking, and your family and guests will be treated to a truly delicious meal. As a bonus, this food is really easy to cook, and doesn’t really require many “exotic” ingredients. Just make sure you stock up on coconut milk.

This delicious chicken needs only 5 ingredients, and it cooks in about an hour. Super-easy, too.
It may be physically impossible not to love beef rendang.

Serve this coconut brittle crunched up on ice cream. It’s an easy and delicious dessert that you can make a week ahead.
