I haven’t made anything this completely unhealthy in a long time, but here it goes. This is pretty simple: make a patty out of breakfast sausage and press panko or breadcrumbs into it. Then shallow-fry it in oil.
It’s super easy, crazy-delicious and extremely bad for you. Make and eat at your own risk.
Or, if you’re grudge cooking, serve this to the target of your ire.
If making your own sausage, you could try this one, this one, or this one. Each recipe is really good.
What you’ll need
- 0.25 lbs. bulk breakfast sausage for each patty you want to make
- About 0.25 cups panko or breadcrumbs (for coating 2 patties)
- Oil for frying
- Optional, if making egg sandwiches
- Bagels or croissants (one per sandwich)
- American cheese (one slice per sandwich)
- Egg (one per sandwich)
What to do
Shape the breakfast sausage into patties. Either pour panko over the patties and press it into them—both sides, or pour the panko into a shallow plate and press the patties into it—on both sides.
Heat a skillet and pour about 0.25 inches of oil into it. When it gets to about 300 degrees, carefully add the patties and cook until they’re halfway cooked and the panko is browned. Turn each patty over and cook until the patties are cooked through.
Remove the patties to a paper-towel-lined plate to drain. Serve however you best like to eat them.
